I can’t remember when did I start writing for myself. All I know is I never write in a regular basis, I just write when I feel like I need to release something from my mind. Writing was a way to release my happiness, a way to release my sadness, a way to release my anger. Writing was all about releasing my emotion.
However, I started this blog at the beginning of the year. Starting a blog was actually a part of my new year resolution. It was all started when I took a Blogging 101 course here in WordPress. But unfortunately college got into the way and I abandoned my blog.
This summer, I once again saw a post about Blogging 101 and I took it again because why not. Day after day, blogging was getting more enjoyable to me. The community of fellow students was very helpful with my journey too. At this point, the reasons why I write began to shift. I no longer write for myself only, I began to write for my readers too.
Actually, there are so many reasons why I write. One of them is about learning things. Every time I write, I get better at writing. I’m not a native English speaker so my English is probably very bad. But I’m confident that my English gets better and better every time I write. Practice makes perfect, right? I also gain a lot of new knowledge and perspective every time I write. It’s because I always do some research about the topic of my writings before I write them.
I also write to challenge my brain. Every time I write, I force my brain to think thoroughly, I force my brain to think creatively, I force my brain to think from the different perspective. Even before I start to write, I need to challenge and stimulate my brain to find ideas. This is a good training for my brain and it’s one of the main reasons I write.
The other reason seems cliché, but I write because I want to inspire people with my writings. I want to motivate people to create something themselves. I want people to learn something new from my writings. I also want people to get benefits from what I write. Well, I’m not there yet but I know someday I’ll be able to inspire people with my writings and I’ll try me best to get there.
So, now it’s your turn! Why do you write?
wow! First I must say, I never picked you as a non native speaker. I really enjoyed this post. It is very articulate and so well written!

I’m in the same boat as you with school getting in the way of blogging. You seem to have a lot of reasons for blogging and they’re all great ones. PS your english isn’t bad at all! Keep at it 🙂

Thank you, it’s getting better with each post I write 🙂
Well, good luck with your school. Don’t let school get in the way of blogging. And most importantly don’t let blog get in the way of studying!

What a wonderful blog design! Everything is laid out so well.
I wasn’t so specific as you were in my writing 101 post. I like the last reason you gave the best, “The other reason seems cliché, but I write because I want to inspire people with my writings. I want to motivate people to create something themselves. I want people to learn something new from my writings.” Keep writing well, and you will be an inspiration to others.
Thanks for this post. I love the blog, and am going to keep reading here.

Nice post!. Just “writing” (not necessarily blogging) was my new year resolution too! 👍
