A couple weeks ago, I signed up for Blogging 201 course from WordPress. Today the class started and I was very excited! I received my first assignment: set three goals for my blog. Assignment aside, I do feel the need to think about those goals so I won’t get lost trying to grow my blog. Now, I also want to share those goals to you because I want you to support me to achieve those goals!
Why do I blog?
To help me set my goal, I would like to answer the questions from the assignment. The first one is about the reasons I blog. Actually, I’ve written about it some times ago, you can read it here if you’re interested.
What I forgot to mention there was that I blog because I want to connect to people. I would like to meet interesting and exciting people. I also hope that I have a guest writer someday. So far, I’ve met a lot of people from blogging and I hope that the numbers will continue grow!
What would my blog looks like if it exceeded my wildest dreams?
I really hope my blog will have hundreds of thousands of followers or regulars. And I really hope my blog will feature many posts from guests. I also hope my blog will expand into much bigger readership. Well, I don’t know what could exceed that!
3 Goals for My Blog
According to what I read, a good goal should meet the S.M.A.R.T. criteria. A S.M.A.R.T. goal is defined as a goal that is specific, measurable, achievable, result-focused, and time-bound. Based on my answers from the questions above, I created my 3 goals:
- Gain 20% more followers by the end of the month. Now that it’s on 48, I should have 60 followers by the end of the month.
- Publish at least 3 posts per week until December 2015. I know that with Writing 101 and Blogging 201 class it will be very easy. But with the class ending soon and exams coming, I don’t know if I can still maintain to post at this rate.
- Have at least 1 post from a guest by the end of the year. I’m less ambitious with this because I know it would be very hard to find a guest poster.
So, what do you think about my goals? What about yours?
