Today’s Writing 101 assignment is all about comment. We are supposed to look into the comments we made in the past and expand them into a whole new post. Unfortunately, because of my busy college schedule, I haven’t been able to made even a single comment worth expanding. And now I realized how much I missed from not being active in The Commons.
I missed an opportunity to gather idea for my future post.
By actively engaging in The Commons, we could discuss so many things with other fellow bloggers. Sometimes, a single comment could spark a whole interesting discussing worth making a post about. Even if the comment didn’t start any discussion, who knows if there is an idea worth posting about?
This is also the reason why I can’t do today’s task properly. If only I made even just one comment worth discussing, I won’t get any difficulty doing today’s assignment. But yeah, it’s too late to do anything for now. At least I now know that I should be more engaged next time.
I missed an opportunity to connect with other people.
This is a bit ironic. Connecting with other blogger was—and still is—one of my blogging goals. I should have used The Commons as an opportunity to connect with others. There are so many interesting people out there. I should have been able to make connections with them. Who knows if I someone in The Commons could be my friend? Or if he/she could be my collaborators?
Again, it’s a big opportunity to be missed. But for this one, I think I still have time to get it right. Once again, I think I should engage with the community more than before. The Commons is a big place to meet people and I shouldn’t have missed the opportunity.
I should have been able to get very much feedbacks.
It’s another opportunity missed. If I engaged with the community, I should have been able to look for feedbacks from fellow bloggers easily. Whether it’s about my post, about my blog as a whole, or even about my way of commenting. I know I could learn very much from other bloggers if I did connect with them.
So, here’s what I want to say to my reader and my future self: Please take as much advantage as possible from the community in The Commons if you’re taking a Blogging U. class, it’s a very valuable opportunity to grow your blog and yourself as a writer.
You’re in Blogging 201 too, right? Class just started so join in the convos anytime! 🙂

You can always dip into the Commons (or other people’s blog posts) any time. The community will always be here — when you have time, dive in, but don’t feel pressured to do so (your college schedule is certainly important!) 🙂

For me, The Commons is kind of like going to a huge party. It can be very overwhelming, and some people are more active/social than others. I am more of a wallflower, but I have also been trying to put myself out there more. I have found some awesome people while taking Blogging U courses, I’m sure you will too! 🙂
